Allan's Dad ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As many of you already know, Allan's dad
passed away on October 2. We were on our
way from Iowa, where we purchased our new
bull, to Oklahoma to put the bull out on
pasture
when we received the call from his family that
Dad suffered a mild stroke and that things
looked
very bad. We arrived on Saturday and were
able to speak to him, and him to us, although
it was very difficult to understand him. He died
in the very early morning hours on Tuesday.
As I am sure many of you know, it is very hard to let go of a loved one, but it is comforting to know that he is not suffering, and that he is in a much better place than we are. Allan's mom had a pretty rough time, of course, but she came back with us to Colorado for a few weeks and I think that was very helpful. Thank you all so much for your prayers. The Holy Spirit's presence was definitely felt.

Eat More Beef!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours.
Once again we would like to take the
opportunity to thank you all for being such
great customers, for all of your loyalty and
support, and for helping us succeed in our
business. It has been a great year for us. We
pray it was the same for you.
If this ole scrawny turkey was the best I could do for Thanksgiving, I am sure we would eat beef. Hopefully you will have a pasture finished bird on your table this year. Nothing better, if you must eat turkey!

Great Supplies of Beef and Lamb ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have been really struggling this year to
keep up with the demand, especially for the
steaks, but we have quite a few animals just
about finished and by December we should
have great supply. If you are still considering
a quarter, half or whole beef, or a half or
whole lamb, please get your orders in as soon
as you can. The animals are going in for
processing in November and December and
will be ready in December and January for
shipping or delivery. Also we will have some
Standing Rib Roasts (aka Prime Rib)
ready for Christmas, but supply is limited so
get your orders in now to
reserve your roast.
We have a few new cuts of beef available - a Flat Iron Steak and an Eye of the Chuck Steak. Both of these cuts come from the prime part of the chuck and are very delicious. The Eye of the Chuck is what I would call an inexpensive Filet. While maybe not quite as tender, it is a darn good steak. The Flat Iron Steak is a little known but wonderful steak. We tenderized some of them as an experiment, so let us know which way you like them. The Eye of the Chuck will be $8.99 per pound and the Flat Irons are $7.99 per pound.

Monday = Ship Day ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We do all of our shipping on Monday, and
occasionally on Tuesday. That way if the
shipment is delayed a day for some reason we
do not have to worry that it will not get there
before the weekend and perhaps sit at a dock
somewhere. So if you can get your orders in
by Saturday afternoon we will do our best to
ship to you the following Monday.

Great Bull ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not a great picture of the bull, but had to catch
him on the run as he exited the stock trailer.
That is him in the foreground. He was quite
anxious to get with his cows! Felt a bit like a
paparazzi trying to catch a celebrity on the run.
We were very fortunate to find a bull with like genetics to the one that we lost. We are very pleased with him, and are sure he is busy doing his job. Of course we compared him to our old bull and in some ways he is better, some not as good. We are hoping that we will be able to get some bull calves from the cows our first bull impregnated. That would be just perfect and completely round out our program.

Medical Bridges ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Allan's mom had lots of very expensive
medicine left after his dad died, and we hated
the thought of throwing it out. Of course the
hospital and pharmacy did not want it back,
but we called MD Anderson in Houston just in
case. They referred us to an organization
called Medical Bridges, to whom we donated
all of it.
Medical Bridges channels reusable medical supplies to developing countries that desperately need them. They have sent over $50 million worth of medical supplies to 80 countries on five continents. Please consider sending them your unused prescription medicine, medical supplies and equipment. Help spread the word. It is a great way to reach out and help. Their phone number is 713-748-8131, or click on the link below for more info and their address. |

Save Your Beef Fat ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't throw that beef fat from your roast or
brisket away! You cannot fry in a better fat.
Olive oil, while wonderful, changes chemically
at high temperatures and is not well suited for
deep frying or very hot frying. Beef fat does
very well at high temperatures, and the food
tastes wonderful cooked in it.
Not only that, but because the CLA (conjugated linoleac acid) and the Omega 3's are in the fat, using grass finished beef fat for cooking is actually good for you. So next time you want to cook some french fries, try using the fat from our beef. You will be amazed at how good they are, and you can relax knowing that you have not loaded your body with trans- fats, but have instead loaded it with Omega 3's and CLA.
