Happy New Year!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a wonderful year this has been for Allan and me personally, as well as for GrassRoots Meats. Truly the best part of our business is getting to know each of you better. It has been our great pleasure to meet so many of you in person this last year, as we have delivered to you, and to reacquaint ourselves with all of you placing reorders. For some we just know you by your phone voice, but we value your friendship as much as we value your business.
Thank you so much for making this such a successful year for GrassRoots Meats. We worked our way through so many challenges over the year, but one of the biggest ones was having enough meat to fill the orders. Not a bad problem to have. We are working hard to position ourselves to be able to meet a growing demand for this coming year.
Why Us And Not Someone Else?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A customer in Denver posed this question to us while he was trying to make a decision where to buy his beef, and it really got me to thinking. Most of our customers are having their meat delivered or shipped, which adds additional expense and which must be justified. I told him that "you need to at least commit to buy from someone you know and trust, or can establish a working relationship with. We appreciate each of our customers and strive to meet their needs, often adjusting to accommodate a new idea. If you buy from us we would like to stay in communication (through our newsletter and emails and phone calls) and anticipate your needs so that we can be more efficient in our production and processing."

I also told him that we are deeply committed to grass-finishing cattle and sheep. Allan has spent a great deal of time and money finding the right kind of animals that finish well on grass, and spends an incredible amount of time and labor improving the pastures they graze on. Producing quality beef and lamb is about a lot more than just turning an animal out on grass. Genetics, forage systems, rotational grazing - so many things go into it. Allan said that if anyone would like to actually talk to him about his agricultural practices, he would be more than happy to visit with them. His cell phone number is 970-749-7670. That is about the only way you can catch him, but he loves sharing his knowledge with others.

Union of Concerned Scientists

Don't really know anything about the Union of Concerned Scientists, but back in March of 2006 they published a report about grass-fed beef that I thought you might be interested in looking at. Just click on the link and you can read the article. Probably nothing new to a lot of you but should make you feel better about eating our meat.

Colorado Delivery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are going to be making a run to Denver mid to late January and can make a loop to hit some of you along the way, if you are needing product. We have a fairly good stock of most things, but we are a little short on a few products, so just drop me an email or call with your order and I can let you know if we can fill it on this run.
Ground Beef Sale
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our ground beef is still on sale for the month of January, at 25% off. That brings it down from $4.29 per pound to $3.22 per pound. As I am sure many of you are aware, at $4.29 per pound it is considerably less expensive than many of our competitors, but at $3.22 per pound it is a smoking good deal! So be sure to take advantage of this great offer before the month is out.

Once again we would just like to say thank you so much for your business, your encouragement, and your friendship. We pray that your families are healthy and prosperous and that this coming year is your absolute best ever. We are looking forward to 2007. Each year we pray that it does not go by too fast, but I have found that determining to enjoy each minute and each day slows time down a lot. We often become so focused on tomorrow, or next week, or next month, that we miss the moment and it is a new year way too soon. Don't let the concerns of tomorrow rob you of the joy of today. God bless you all!

Lois & Allan
