Don't Forget Your Valentine ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Love, love, love - it's everywhere. Hope you are
surrounded by love this Valentine's Day. While Allan
and I have time tested love for each other, as well as
overwhelming love for our children, there is just
nothing that compares to the love we have for our
three wonderful grandchildren.
Any of you that are grandparents will know what I mean. Taylor (girl) is 9, Kyler (boy) is 4, and Reece (girl) will be 5 months by Valentine's Day. They bring such tremendous joy into our lives. Kyler especially loves to help Grandpa with all of his ranching chores. And Grandpa loves to have his help.

Why Grass Fed is Best ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the December/January 2007 issue, Mother Earth
News featured an article on "Why Grass Fed is Best."
Below is a link to this article. They did a really good
job, but most especially in explaining why the danger
from E.coli is so much less in grass fed beef.
Thanks to Mary Harlow of Arvada, Colorado, for letting us know about it. Much of the information for the article was taken from Michael Pollan's new book, "The Omnivore's Dilemma." While we have not read this book yet, it has been very highly recommended by many of you and is top on our list of books to read. |

Beef and Lamb Supplies ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have lots of beef Sirloin Tip Roasts, Rump
Roasts, Chuck Roasts, Arm Roasts, Pikes Peak
Roasts, Flank Steak, Skirt Steak, Brisket, Ground
Beef, Liver, Tongue and Heart available. Until the first
part of March we are out of Filets, New York and Rib
Eye steaks, but we do have Tenderloin Primals and
New York Primals. Primals are the complete piece of
meat before it is cut up into steaks or other cuts. They
are wonderful - if you cannot use the
entire primal at once it can be slightly thawed and cut
into smaller cuts, then refrozen. Our restaurants
really like their meat cut this way.
We plan to offer Chuck Steaks and London Broil in the near future. Check with us in March if you are looking for these cuts. Our supplies are very good on lamb right now, on nearly all cuts. Just let us know what you need.

Colorado Delivery ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I need to make a trip to Denver the last weekend of
February, so if any of you along that route need meat
just let me know and I can deliver it to you. I will be
going to the Denver Gift Show for our other business
in
Pagosa Springs, the Made In Colorado Shoppe. Lots
of work but always a good time.

Chuck Roast Sale ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Ground Beef sale was a huge success for
January, so this month we are running our Chuck
Roasts on sale at 25% off, or $3.74 per pound. The
chuck roasts are just
beautiful, and delicious. They are string wrapped for
easy grilling and baking, but the string can be easily
removed for
pot roasts and stews. These are honestly the leanest
and best
tasting chuck roasts we have ever had.
Take advantage of this sale before the end of February, or before our supplies run out. We are limited and do not have nearly as many chuck roasts as we did ground beef, so shopping early is important. You won't be sorry you took advantage of this offer.

Lamb Loin Chop Sale ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time to run some of our lamb on sale again. This
month we are featuring Loin Chops at 25% off, or
$10.19 per pound. If you haven't tried our lamb you
are really missing out. If you are already on board
and loving it, don't miss this opportunity to buy our
premier lamb cut at a fantastic savings.

In Closing... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have had many conversations lately about weight,
and weight loss, with a number of folks. We are so
focused on weight in this country. While
obesity is certainly a problem and we are all acutely
aware of every overweight pound that we might be
carrying, I
want to suggest to you that you might want to be more
focused
on your health than on your weight. Ask yourself when
was the last time you were sick. If you are eating
quality foods and not getting sick, count your
blessings and
not your pounds. Your body defines for you its
optimum weight if you are eating properly, staying
active, and getting enough sleep. You are what you
eat, so instead of eating to lose or maintain weight,
eat the foods that boost your immune system and
keep you healthy. Eat them in moderation and you
will be the perfect you. God bless you all!
