Lisa's Introduction

Hi, my name is Lisa Hammer, I am Allan and Lois's daughter. Lois has started pursuing some new interests this summer so I have been learning the ropes of Grass Root Meats. I am in the process of learning everything so if I make a mistake bear with me. I want to apologize for the news letter. That is part of my learning process. Since the news letter came out so late it is for October and November so the next news letter will come out in December. It has been fun learning new things and meeting new people through phone calls and emails. I have been apart of Grass Roots for many years but behind the scenes and a huge support to my mom and dad. I have also been apart because grandpa's big helper is also my son Kyler. Kyler loves to go and help grandpa ride the horses and check the cattle. He is also big helper pulling the irrigation hoses and digging the ditches for the irrigation. Grandpa and Kylers favorite thing though is just spending time together. To tell you a little bit more about me I am married to a wonderful man and have three beautiful children. They all keep me going in all different directions but are the joy and happiness in my life. Grass Roots has been fun and I am really enjoying it very much. Allan has been very busy with the cattle and he is also guiding this fall for a good friend and his outfitting business. Something else Allan loves to do.


Fall Colors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had a great summer. It was a very green, beautiful and lots of grass for the cattle. Fall is also a great time for the steers to gain. The cooler temperatures make the steers more comfortable and so they eat more. The grass also has a higher percentage in carbohydrates and sugars so they can gain more. The colors are changing now and so is the temperature. It has been frosting over in the early morning and making it a bit chilly. The colors of the leaves are changing and absolutely beautiful. The leaves are turning bright yellows, oranges and some reds and still some green ones left. The mixture of colors are gorgeous. Allan went for a beautiful ride in the mountains the other day and said it was just stunning. We also got our first snow in the mountains last weekend. Winter is just around the corner. Hopefully it will hold off for a little bit longer. I am not quit ready for the snow and the real cold winter months. But when the first snow fall does come, it will be really pretty and peaceful.


Colorado Springs Delivery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will be coming to Colorado Springs on October 24th through the 25th so if any one would like to place a meat order I can meet them in Colorado Springs and deliver it to them. The cost of shipping is .80 to .85 cents a pound. I will deliver for .40 cents a pound if any one is interested. There is a $35.00 dollar minimum on deliveries.


Arizona Delivery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lois is headed to Scottsdale Arizona on November 6th if any one is interested in a delivery. It will cost .40 cents a pound for delivery. It is originally .80 to .85 cents per pound. There is a $40.00 dollar minimum on deliveries. So it is a great deal. We are starting to get orders together so just let us know if you would like to place and order.


Ground Beef Special
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All ground beef including the ground beef packages is 10% off the rest of October and the month of November. You also will get 3 packages of soup bones free with a minimum of 20 pounds of ground beef. We are also running brisket on sale for $3.99 a pound and it is normally $4.99 a pound. Here is a great opportunity for some really good brisket.


Lamb Special
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All ground lamb for the month of October and November will be 10% off.


In Closing ...

Well I hope every one had a wonderful summer and is enjoying the fall. The winter months are just around the corner which also means the holiday seasons. It is time to start thinking for Christmas.
